Donation to the Middle School Classes
Priceless
LOW-priced goals:
1. Lynette/English: A “sweeper” or hand vacuum for my pod to share.
2. Nancy/Science & Yearbook: Laptop speakers. Approximate cost $20-$40.

MID-priced goals:
1. Lynette/English: An IPad App called “Keynote.” This would enable students to create the Mac version of a Power Point presentation. I would use these student presentations for oral (and by default written) presentations and accompanying assessments. It cost $15 on my own IPad Mini. Not sure if it would be only $15 for every IPad. My IPhone (and that of students) can be paired via Bluetooth to become the remote control of the presentation. (Pretty cool!); however, this App called “Keynote Remote” costs $1 which students would probably need to purchase for their own phones if interested.
2. Matt/History: Apple TV. Allows users to link in from the iPad to the projector and switch between iPads in the class so students can share a project or a search item.

HIGH-priced goals:
1. Lynette/English: More IPads. To effectively use them in English class, the ideal would be one IPad per every two students (1:2 ratio). We have six, so 4 more would cover my English classes which will be 20 students or less. The school has had a purchase price in the past.
2. Cale/Science: More hot plates for the science lab. These would be great to use for science labs involving heat. Approximate cost $200 each.
3. Cale/Science: GPS units for science class. These would be valuable additions for teaching many scientific and geographical concepts. Approximate cost $200 each.
4. Matt/History: Replace pull down maps in history classroom. US maps are old and hard to use and the world map holder is broken, which usually results in a random rollup in the middle of class.
5. Matt/History: Medieval Feast costumes

SUPER-HIGH-Priced/Dreamworld goals:
1. Lynette/English: A “COW” – Computers [Lab] on Wheels. This is a rolling cart with a certain number of laptops on it that can be used by any teacher since they are portable. It can be defined as a “wireless computerlab.” The CCSS require students to use technology in all areas of English. Currently, the 8th graders do not have a regular slotted time in the computer lab for me to teach using technology. I would probably use these laptops twice per week in class to write drafts, revise, and edit. See this website as a start for costs: http://www.act4networks.com/COW-Intro.htm. This is idea.
